I will be getting a new iMAC very soon. Should i wait for the Leopard operating system?

Depends. You will have to purchase the Leopard version if you choose to install OSX now, so that will set you back a few bucks (unless you get a voucher for a free upgrade). Besides, it will take some time to install Leopard and reinstall all programs you install on your computer now.
On the other hand: having a new computer is always nice

Plus, New iMacs are coming out on August 7th. So wait until then. And what do you mean download the operating system? If you install Leopard later, it replaces Tiger. And unless your hard drive is reaaallllly tiny, then you’ll be fine.
